Gi60 US

Gi60 US Festival

We are thrilled to have been a part of Gi60 International since 2005. For 15 years, the Department of Theater at Brooklyn College produced 50 one minute plays with a cast of undergraduate and graduate acting students, returning alums, and professional actors who served as mentors to the actors in training with proceeds going to a scholarship fund for theatre students, Countless students were supported in their education because of the many actors, playwrights, directors, designers, technicians, camera operators, and management staff who volunteered their time and talents to Gi60. Plays produced by Gi60 US can be found on the Gi60 YouTube Channel.

Gi60 US moved from Brooklyn to Manhattan in 2020, where we began an exciting new partnership with the wonderful artists at The Tank NYC, a multi-disciplinary non-profit arts presenter and producer.  https://thetanknyc.org/about  The Tank and Gi60 returned to live performances in 2021, and we're delighted to work with our newest collaborators and reunite with our audiences. Performances for 2023 will be on July 6, 7, 8 and 9 at The Tank at 312 West 36th Street NYC, all shows at 7:00. For our long distance audiences, performances on July 7, 8 and 9 will be live streamed.

Gi60 2023 is dedicated to the memory of Christopher Thomasson, a longtime Gi60 Associate Director: he managed the Gi60 YouTube Channel, edited hundreds of hours of plays through the years so playwrights and audiences could enjoy single play format or full festivals, worked tirelessly with Steve and Rose on Gi60’s mission and long range plans, solved countless strategic challenges, had just begun work on his baby - Gi60 Radio, and was simply the kindest, most generous, funniest, and most supportive human, period. A proud graduate of the MFA directing program at Brooklyn College, a wonderful theater director who worked with Boomerang Theater, Gi60, and was Operations Manager at Macy’s Santaland for 10 years (!) he was dedicated to the education of children, and to the betterment of their lives through outdoor summer camp experiences (Camp Director of Trail Blazers). He is deeply, deeply missed by us all - his spirit and energy will remain in our hearts, and though he was never a Hooligan, he was often a Scalawag….this one’s for you, Christopher.
